Here’s to 2024!!

Happy New Year Everyone!!

2023 was a great year for Montessori, and I feel 2024 will hold many possibilities for the children at Montessori.

The biggest change this month will be the addition of the new fee schedule. This is going to be a learning experience all around. The timeline set up is as follows:

January 1-New fees go into effect (all families should have received a printout about the new fee)

February 1-I will apply to the government for the new amounts for the children and we will see how they handle this new turnaround time.

Parents are welcome to pay for up to 6 months in advance. Anyone making larger payments will have that reflected on the monthly register that keeps track of payments.

Notes will be going home later this month regarding income tax receipts. If anyone has moved, we will need current information as well as the person who is claiming the refund.

SACA kickboxing will continue Mondays if the weather is favorable for the children to be walking to the gym. Social Thinkers will remain on Wednesday mornings, Music on Thursday mornings.

It looks like the start of January is going to be unseasonably warm which means we will venture out as much as we can each day. This has been amazing to help settle the children and keep the cold germs to a minimum. It has been refreshing to clear our minds and get some exercise in during the day.

The children also need appropriate coats, snow pants, hats, and mittens for outside walks. We are trying our best to get outside during these warmer days but need your cooperation in having the children come to school prepared for outside time.

Please send extra clothing in case they get wet or have an accident. We have no clothes on site to be used as spares and do not want to have to call you to bring clothing.

If the temperature is -10C or colder we are not going outside. It’s too cold for the children especially with the wind chill and we are not wanting to invite an illness.

Speaking of illnesses…we did very well keeping the sickness to a minimum in December. It may not have seemed like it at times, however, we did 100 times better than this time last year. The key to this was the 48 hour rule after your child has been ill. they need to remain out for the full 48 hours after their symptoms subside. We appreciate your cooperation in keeping everyone healthy!

The school re-opens on Monday January 3rd,2024 at 7:45am

We are closed on Monday February 19th, 2024, for Family Day; however, we are open the remainder of the week as all schools are closed for Teacher’s Convention.

Friday March 29th -School closed for Good Friday

Monday April 1st -School closed for Easter Monday

**School is open the rest of Easter week**

Please check with your school districts as each division has taken different weeks off.

**April 2024-Summer and Fall registration opens for internal families.

Monday May 20th- School closed for Victoria Day

**Graduation will be mid-June, date TBA once it is arranged**

Monday July 1st – School closed for Canada Day
